5 Minutes away - BOOKING HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
EST 2010. The Bellarine’s first and finest, Flying Brick is known and loved as one of the founders of true Australian craft cider.
This landmark venue of the region is definitely calling. Think innovate space, a tasting paddle of naturally crafted ciders, amazing food without the ‘fancy’, the best Bellarine wines around, a solid selection of beer, live music every Friday and Saturday nights and you’ll get an inkling of what to expect – fabulous, funky, fun.
The quirky name comes from the Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo whose local nick name is ‘Flying Brick’. Known for their spunk, these birds are loved for their happy, playful and seemingly ‘naughty’ appearance and disposition. Local legend also has it that if a flock of black cockatoos flies overhead, you are blessed with good luck.
Flying Brick ciders are traditionally crafted from 100% fresh fruit and - unlike many mainstream Australian ciders which are nothing more than synthetic carbonated water - contain no sugars, colours or concentrates.
The building design is true to brand, reflecting the Flying Brick bird itself with the exterior façade echoing its namesake’s colours and wing span. Inside, the imposing wood clad ceiling mirrors a commanding yet highly intricate wing structure. It’s worth a visit just to admire the building (oh and the luxurious lawn!)
Head Chef, Josh Reader has designed a contemporary and distinctively different menu designed to inspire, share and indulge. Local produce and community group partnership are both key features.
In addition to the three classic and highly awarded Flying Brick Cider offerings – Original, Pear and Draught - the onsite cidery is continually crafting boutique seasonal batches from fresh, seasonal fruit under Cider Master, Nyall Condon’s direction.
