The Space Fruit full complete portfolio epitomizes Warhol’s modern approach to the still life genre.
With bright and unrealistic colours, Warhol demonstrates more interest in the
drawing’s outline and colour than its level of realism.

With the help of his close friend and printer, Rupert Jasen Smith, Warhol was able to complete his Space Fruit suite in 1979.
This series marks a shift of Warhol’s interest from commercial products to more typical subjects, namely everyday objects that are representative of the still life genre.

The Space
Fruit complete portfolio is a staple of Warhol’s work, with a total of eight prints, each presenting an original view of a common object. Warhol’s passion for vibrant colours and exaggerated shadows presents his subjects in a new light, creating idols out of them as he does with the more famous subjects of his other suites.
